Every month, we pick one newly released fantasy book that we think you will love to include in this subscription!
Titles chosen will encompass a range of vibrant subgenres – from cosy fantasy and sword and sorcery, to urban epics and mythology retellings. We will also occasionally feature books that cross genre boundaries (e.g. Science Fantasy, Horror Fantasy), but our focus will always be on picking novels we know fantasy fans will love. Most books included will be for an adult readership, but we will occasionally include YA titles that we believe adults will also enjoy.
Books will arrive with you in our signature wrapping – recycled brown paper, twine, a wax seal, and a bookmark – alongside a luxury teabag, a bookplate signed by the author, and occasionally, a small surprise item (e.g. a sticker, bookmark, postcard, etc). All our packaging is sustainably sourced and plastic-free.
Dryad's Book Subscription is £11 a month (£14.80 including UK Tracked shipping). It is also available a 3-, 6- and 12-month pre-paid subscription – click here to find out more!
Your first book will be shipped soon after your order, and your subsequent books will be shipped when your subscription renews (or, as soon after your renewal as possible, if our book of the month's publication date has not yet passed). For instance, if you placed your order on May 24th, you would receive our May book of the month, then our June book of the month when your order renews on June 24th.
If you would like to instead start with a specific month or change the date of your renewal, let us know by leaving a note at checkout or by emailing hello@dryad-books.co.uk.
Dryad's Book Subscription – Monthly
December's book of the month is Sorcery and Small Magics by Maiga Doocy! In this queer, whimsical fantasy, an impulsive sorcerer and his curmudgeonly rival must venture deep into a magical forest to find a way to break the curse binding them together. We highly recommend this book for fans of A Marvellous Light, Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries and The Teller of Small Fortunes.
Subscribers will receive a copy with a signed bookplate, a festive tea bag and a surprise gift.
Leovander Loveage is a master of small magics, content to spend his days thinking up charms that can summon butterflies or turn hair pink. That is, until a mishap with forbidden magic compels Leo to obey his longtime rival, Sebastian Grimm. Grimm is Leo's complete opposite - respected, talented and an absolutely insufferable curmudgeon. They need a counterspell, and fast.
Chasing rumours of a powerful sorcerer, Leo and Grimm enter the Unquiet Wood, a forest teeming with murderous monsters and dangerous outlaws. To break the curse, they'll have to uncover the true depths of Leo's magic, set aside their animosity and - much to their horror - work together. Even as an odd spark of attraction flares between them.
'I loved this book! . . . One of the best slow-burn relationships I've seen in a long time. Prepare to get deeply invested in Leovander Lovage and Sebastian Grimm.' – Melissa Caruso, author of The Last Hour Between Worlds
'A delightful story of healing, full of heart, with two flawed but irresistible heroes and a fantastic sorceress in the woods! I didn't want it to end' – Sarah Beth Durst, author of The Spellshop.
